Scandal: The Different Wines of Olivia Pope

, by

Who doesn’t like the TV show , Scandal. If you are like me, then you are going through Scandal withdrawals. You know you like it, if you don’t want to admit it. It had everything you would ever want. Crime, intrigue, sex, politics, sex, money, and last but not least, sex. I really love the show. I’m also a favorite of the show because the main character, Olivia Pope, loves her a nice bottle of red wine. I often find myself trying to guess what wines she is drinking. The staff at Vibes and Vino decided that we get together and make a list of the 5 wines that we believe Olivia Pope is having as she comes up with her next bright idea. Of course, you can click on the link and get your own bottle.

1. 2010 Martinelli Pinot Noir Bella Vigna

Crimsom color and aromas of blackberry. It’s balanced and has flavours of strawberry with a medium/full body. Round texture with a long finish – A great pinot with dark and red berries. Sort of jammy which gives it a less of an ege. Perfect color.

2. 2011 Elk Run Cabernet Sauvignon

Well-balanced with intense fruit, this Cabernet Sauvignon is complex, yet round and mouth-filling. Blackberry, currant, and vanilla flavors dominate in the long finish. These grape come from their Cold Friday Vineyard planted in 1995.

3. 2011 DaCastello Primitivo

Sweet flavours of cherries, cherry lips and bubble gum collided with the not unexpected tannic youth of the Italian stallion.

4. 2010 Boland Cappuccino Pinotage

This is the perfect Olivia Pope wine. Yes, we know that she does not drink coffee. But, we think that she would like this wine. It befits a strong corporate woman. Medium bodied wine with lots of on the nose, berries, mocha, a hint of coffee with sweet spices.

5. 2011 Louis Martini Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon

This is a very easy drinking with softer tannins. It offers aromas of red cherry and blackberry that are supported by a round, sweet mouth feel with just enough structure to lead it into a fruit-focused finish.
